Vipers Drop Game 1 Of Essex County Super Series

On Sunday in Leamington, the LaSalle Vipers came up on the short end of a 2-0 score in Game 1 of the Essex County Super Series against the Leamington Flyers.

2nd period goals by Josh Cyrenne and Thomas Michaud was all the scoring the Flyers needed as goaltenders Ryan Polidori and Chazz Nixon shut the door to split the shutout.

Matthew Sbrocca played well between the pipes for LaSalle despite taking the loss.

The Vipers were without Captain Jack Bowler in Game 1 but welcomed two new additions to the lineup in forward Wylie Birkett and defenseman James Jodoin. A York-Simcoe Express product, Birkett was a 9th-round selection of the Windsor Spitfires in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection and arrived in Leamington just in time for Sunday afternoon’s game. Another Spitfires draftee, Jodoin played for the Vipers as a rookie in the 2019-2020 season and was also able to make it down in time for the tilt. He will skate with the Vipers until the Spitfires training camp begins.
