One week after suffering a 5-2 loss to the Legionnaires, the Lasalle Vipers returned to Pat Stapleton Arena looking for redemption. This time, the Vipers came prepared and closed out the season series with a victory.
The Vipers wasted no time getting on the board. Stefan Djordjevic opened the scoring at 7:22, and just 36 seconds later, Max Brocklehurst doubled the lead. The Legionnaires responded at 8:37, Adriano Tonin restored Lasalle’s two-goal advantage at 9:08. Sarnia kept pressing and cut the deficit to one at 14:51 but the Vipers struck again when Connor Chartrand buried his first of the night at 17:04. The Legionnaires managed to score another one with just 22 seconds left in the opening frame.
The Vipers defensive efforts slipped in the second period, allowing two Sarnia goals. The Legionnaires tied the game early at 3:39 and then took the lead with another goal at 19:28.
Down 5-4, Lasalle turned up the intensity in the final frame. After a string of penalties against Sarnia, Owen Findlay tied the game again with a shot from the blue line. With just under two minutes remaining, Connor Chartrand scored his second goal of the game, which proved to be the game-winner. Nick Graniero sealed the win for the Vipers with an empty-net goal, securing a 7-5 win for the Vipers.
The Vipers return to the ice on Sunday, February 23rd, when they travel to Elmira. They are back home on Wednesday, February 26th, for their final Wednesday night game of the regular season.
