Vipers Sweep Weekend Road Trip with Back-to-Back Wins Over Brantford and Waterloo

The LaSalle Vipers showcased a dominant weekend on the road, picking up back-to-back wins over the Brantford Titans and Waterloo Siskins.

On Saturday, the Vipers faced a team from the East, the Brantford Titans. In the first of two games in 24 hours, the Vipers fired 62 shots on goal on their way to an 8-3 win.

LaSalle got on the board in the first period when Connor Chartrand scored at 11:33. Despite taking some early penalties, the Vipers held onto the lead and carried their one- goal lead into the second.

Chartrand stuck again just 20 seconds into the second, sparking a four- goal period for LaSalle. After dealing with several penalties, the Vipers exploded with three goals in under seven minutes. Adriano Tonin, Julian Gignac and Brody Jones all added a tally to their goal count.Although Branford found the scoresheet in the third period, the Vipers stayed in control. Michael Cunha and Lucas Larson each scored their first career GOHL goals, while Tonin added his second of the afternoon. Goaltender Adam Bartel’s potential shutout was broken late as Brentford scored three times, but LaSalle’s early dominance secured the win.

Less than a day later, the Vipers were back on the road to face Waterloo in a much tighter contest.

Julian Gignac opened the scoring with his second goal of the weekend. Back-to-back penalties to Joe Gingras and Adriano Tonin gave the Siskins a five on three advantage, which resulted in a goal tying the game at one. Waterloo added a late goal to take the lead heading into the first intermission.

Early in the second, Gingras tied the game at two just 2:40 into the frame. The game winner came at 18:49, when Aidan Ostrovski scored his first GOHL goal. Now holding the lead, LaSalle refused to look back.

The third period was all defence from the Vipers, who focused on protecting their one-goal advantage. Tensions were high with multiple roughing and fighting penalties being handed out but, LaSalle held steady and locked down the 3-2 win.

The Vipers return home this week for a three- game homestand, beginning Wednesday night when they welcome the Welland Jr. Canadians to the Vollmer.
