This past Tuesday, the GOJHL released their first power rankings of the season. Five weeks into play and the Vipers have only lost three out of ten games played earning them the fourth spot on the week five power rankings. Two other Western Conference teams appear on the list at first and second.
The Vipers visited the London Nationals last night. This is the second time these two teams have met up this season. The last time they played each other was the Vipers home opener back in September. The Vipers beat the Nationals 3-2 in overtime. This time around, Lasalle traveled to London for the first rematch of the season.
Both teams battled hard during the first period as we only saw one goal the whole 20 minutes. Jake Windbiel started his third game of the season and by the end of the first saved 12 of 13 shots on net. The Nationals scored their first at 17:40.
Going into the second period, the Vipers were only down 1-0 when Nationals player Brown scored 0:28 seconds in. Followed by almost 9 minutes of 5 on 5 hockey before the Nationals scored their third goal of the game. The scoring of the period was not over yet as Max Brocklehurst scored his first GOJHL goal at 14:13. 3-1 London at the end of 40 minutes.
The third period was full of action as we saw a total of 5 goals this period. The Nationals opened the period with a goal at 2:45. Another one came at 10:04. The score was now 5-1 but not for long as Zach Vaillancourt scored his sixth of the season at 11:42. The Nationals sixth and final goal slipped passed Windbiel at 13:41. After an altercation that landed 2 Nationals players and 2 Vipers players in the box, Kieran McNally scored the Vipers third and final goal of the game. The final score was 6-3 London. Final shots on net were 39-33 Lasalle.
The Lasalle Viper look forward to being back home this Sunday when the Listowel Cyclones come to town. Puck drop is at 2:30pm
