The LaSalle Vipers picked up a much-needed win on Wednesday night, defeating the Stratford Warriors 4-2 at home.
Coming into this game, the Vipers were missing several key players due to injuries and a suspension, leading to a few local call-ups filling the lineup. Despite the challenges, the Vipers delivered a strong performance and bounced back from their previous 7-1 loss to Stratford earlier this month.
Kaiden Harmon opened the scoring late in the first period with a power-play goal. The Vipers spent much of the frame shorthanded, taking three penalties, but successfully killed them all off.
The second period was evenly played, with both teams trading chances. Stratford finally broke one through goaltender Adam Bartel’s shutout with just 20 seconds remaining to tie the game at one.
Early in the third, Michael Cunha restored the lead for LaSalle at 1:27, but Stratford answered back midway through to even things up once again. Harmon’s second goal of the game, which eventually was ruled as the game winner, came at 10:12. Adriano Tonin sealed the win with his 10th goal of the season, scoring into the empty net.
The Vipers will look to build on this momentum as they kick off November on the road in Cambridge, facing a skilled Redhawks team.
