It was a tough Saturday night for the LaSalle Vipers, who fell 3-0 to the Cambridge Redhawks on the road.
Affiliate player Bennett Horrocks got the start in net for LaSalle and held his ground in this hard-fought battle. Cambridge opened the scoring early in the first at 4:58. Both teams then exchanged penalties throughout the frame with neither side being able to capitalize.
During the second period the Redhawks took two penalties, while Kade McGeen was sent to the box for the Vipers. Despite several chances, LaSalle couldn’t find a way to get it past the Cambridge goaltender.
Early in the third, Joe Gingras took a penalty at 2:33 and Cambridge extended their lead to 2-0 on that powerplay. Andon Harwood sat for back-to-back penalties as the period went on. The Vipers pulled Horrocks at 18:11 to try and spark some offence but the Redhawks sealed the game with an empty net goal.
The Vipers now look ahead to Wednesday night for a rematch against the St. Thomas Stars.
