Vipers Pull Away Late in 5–2 Win

The LaSalle Vipers earned a road win on Saturday night, defeating the Komoka Kings 5-2 after a third- period surge. This win came just weeks after a tough 6-5 loss to the Kings in LaSalle.

LaSalle took two penalties to start the game before Komoka opened the scoring. The Vipers answered back on the power play, as Nic Rosati tied the game at 16:12 of the first period with his tenth goal of the season.

The second period proved to be slower but just as physical. Komoka regained the lead early and held it through the remainder of the period. Three penalties were called, two against LaSalle and one against the Kings. The Vipers headed into the final frame down 2-1.

The third period belonged entirely to the Vipers. Josh Lepains sparked the comeback, tying the game at 7:10, before Connor Chartrand buried the game-winning goal at 11:13. LaSalle wasn’t done yet, as Grady Spicer capitalized on an empty net while Shawn Costello served time in the penalty box, scoring shorthanded to extend the lead. Costello later sealed the win with another empty-net goal, marking his third goal in just his third game with the Vipers.

LaSalle now looks ahead to a lighter schedule, with just one game upcoming this week as St. Mary’s visits LaSalle.
