Vipers Finish Regular Season with Loss to Siskins

The Lasalle Vipers wrapped up their regular season on Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 loss to the Kitchener-Waterloo Siskins. With a playoff spot already secured, the Vipers rested several key players while the Siskins were fighting to extend their season.

Goaltender Jake Windbiel started the game and split time in net with other Vipers goalie, Logan Phillips. The first period remained scoreless with both teams trading minor penalties. Connor Chartrand was called at 8:57 for hooking and Bryce Belleau at 15:57 for cross-checking. The Siskins took penalties at 11:34 and 15:57.

Offence for both teams picked up in the second. Kitchener-Waterloo struck first at 9:23 but the Vipers responded quickly. Alec Stewart capitalized on the powerplay at 10:52, tying the game at 1. The Siskins regained the lead just 44 seconds later and extended their advantage with another goal at 17:57. 3-1 Siskins heading into the third.

The final period stayed quiet with limited scoring chances and just one penalty to Bryce Belleau.

With the regular season now finish, the Vipers await their first-round matchup.
