Vipers Fall Two Goals Short of Comeback Attempt

The Lasalle Vipers faced off against the London Nationals for the third time this season, despite a third period comeback attempt, the Vipers fell short by 2 goals.

The Nationals came out strong, scoring two quick goals at 1:12 and 2:22. A tripping penalty to Matteo Vilardi resulted in London’s third goal of the game. Making it 3-0 Nationals within the first five minutes of play. London added their fourth goal at 18:55. In the dying seconds of the period, Jaksen Ward got the vipers on the board.

Like the first, the Nationals opened the second by scoring early at 5:19. Both teams found themselves in penalty troubles before the Nationals struck shorthanded for their sixth goal of the night.

Things began to come together for the Vipers in the final frame. Matteo Vilardi started the comeback effort by scoring the Vipers second goal. He found the back of the net again at 11:13. Jak Thiessen added another at 15:17, bringing the Vipers within two goals. Dante Bertolin was pulled to give Lasalle the extra attacker, but the Nationals held strong. Final score 6-4. The Vipers had an impressive number of shots on net at 46 by the end of the 60 minutes.

The Vipers are back home this Wednesday December 18th to face the Listowel Cyclones
