Vipers Fall 1 Goal Short in Second Back-to-Back Game

After a 2-1 win in Strathroy last night, the Lasalle Vipers were back on the ice in less than 24 hours. This time facing the reigning Sutherland Cup champions once more. The last time the Listowel Cyclones visited the Vollmer Culture R.C, the Vipers came out on top in an 8-6 win.

The Vipers came out strong in the first period, keeping the score even throughout the whole 20 minutes. Noah Caswell took a slashing penalty at 9:28. Shortly after, Michael Lavigne picked up a penalty at 12:12. The Vipers then got a chance on the powerplay when Listowel took a penalty at 15:52. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessfully sending us into intermission stuck at 0-0.

Through the second period we continued to only see penalties. Zach Vaillancourt took back-to-back penalties at 8:09 and 11:49. Nick Graniero joined him in the box at 13:11. The Cyclones got called for a penalty late in the period but again, the Vipers were unable to capitalize on the advantage.

At 5:54 in the third period the first goal of the game was scored. The Cyclones were able to break past goalie Jake Windbiel and score the one and only goal we would see all game. The Vipers pulled Windbiel at 18:25 in a final push to even the 1-0 score but despite their best efforts, the Vipers fell short.

The Lasalle Vipers play their next 2 games at home. On Wednesday, November 13th vs the St. Mary’s Lincolns and on Sunday November 17th vs the Elmira Sugar Kings
