Vipers Earn First Win on the Road with 2-1 Win Over Lincolns

The LaSalle Vipers picked up their first win on the road last Friday night, defeating the St. Marys Lincolns 2-1.

The Lincolns opened the scoring just one minute into the game, but rookie goaltender Adam Bartel, making his first GOJHL start, settled in and held the Lincolns off the rest of the way. The Vipers faced two penalties in the opening frame but successfully killed them both off.

The game shifted in favor of the Vipers when Ian Inskip scored his first career GOJHL goal at 2:15 to tie the game. The Vipers were forced to kill off two more penalties shortly after, but their strong defensive play kept the Lincolns off the board. Midway through the second, Kieran McNally scored the game winner. Assist on the goal went to Kale Pucovsky and Jaksen Ward, each earning their first point of the year.

The third period remained scoreless but both teams exchanged roughing penalties on 2 separate occasions. St. Marys pulled their goalie late in the game in search of the equalizer, but the Vipers defence held strong.

The Vipers now turn their attention to a busy week ahead, starting with a home match up against the Sarnia Legionnaires on Wednesday before spending the weekend on the road facing the Brantford Titans on Saturday and the Waterloo Siskins on Sunday.
