Back on home ice at the Vollmer, the Lasalle Vipers were looking to even the first round series against the Stratford Warriors. Despite a hard-fought game, the Vipers fell 5-2, making the series 2-0 Stratford.
Stratford opened the scoring at 5:08 of the first period. The Warriors added another goal at 18:18 to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
Julian Gignac cut the deficit to 1 at 2:30 into the second. Stratford quickly regained control, hitting the back of the net twice at 12:08 and 14:07 to make it 4-1.
The Warriors extended their lead to 5-1 with a goal at 11:13 of the third period. Moments later, Alec Stewart was awarded a goal after his shot rang off the crossbar at 13:58. Although the Vipers were only within 3, the comeback efforts fell short.
The Vipers head back to Stratford on Friday March 21st for Game 3.
