The LaSalle Vipers put together a dominant showing on home ice Wednesday night, shutting out the Komoka Kings 7-0.
LaSalle wasted no time opening the scoring. Mateo Vilardi scored at 8:58, of the first period to give the Vipers an early lead, and Josh Lepain added to the advantage late in the frame at 15:12. LaSalle headed into the first intermission up 2-0.
The Vipers exploded offensively in the second period, netting four even-strength goals in just under 14 minutes. Shawn Costello struck just 14 seconds into the period to extend the lead. Nic Rosati followed with his first of the night at 9:09, before Gage Evans scored his first goal of the season at 10:24. Rosati capped off the period with his second of the game at 14:32, pushing the score to 6-0.
Frustration boiled over for the Kings as the third period began, but Jake Windbiel was rock solid in goal, turning aside all 40 shots he faced. Grady Spicer rounded out the scoring with the seventh goal of the night.
The Vipers will look forward to a day of rest before heading to St. Marys on Friday for their next matchup.
