On Wednesday night, the LaSalle Vipers hosted the Komoka Kings for the first meeting of the season in a high-scoring, back-and-forth battle.
Jake Windbiel got the start in net for LaSalle. Komoka opened the scoring early at 1:59 but the Vipers quickly responded with a power play goal from Joe Gingras at 7:15. Adriano Tonin gave LaSalle their first lead of the night at 9:51 before Komoka tied things back up at 11:30. Grady Spicer found the back of the net late in the period, sending the Vipers into the first intermission ahead 3-2.
Komoka tied the game early in the second with a powerplay goal and then capitalized again while up a man after Julian Gignac took a tripping penalty. The Kings took the lead by two late in the frame heading into the third.
Adam Bartel took over the crease to start the final period. Gignac cut the deficit in half, just 43 seconds in and Spicer netted his second of the night shortly after to tie the game up. A hooking call to Brody Jones at 5:41 gave Komoka another powerplay chance and they made it count, scoring the game winner at 7:30.
The Vipers are on the road again this weekend. Facing off in Strathroy on Saturday night and Chatham on Sunday night.
