The LaSalle Vipers erased an early two-goal deficit and sparked an offensive surge, scoring five unanswered goals. Four of the five came from special teams.
Jake Windbiel got the start in net for LaSalle once again. The first period belonged to the Lincolns, who opened the scoring at 10:59 before capitalizing on a LaSalle penalty at 19:14, taking a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.
After a much-needed pep talk during the break, the Vipers came out with renewed energy to start the second period. At 2:47, the Lincolns took a penalty, opening the door for LaSalle’s special teams to take over. Max Brocklehurst scored his first goal of the season on the power play at 3:19. Connor Chartrand followed with another power-play goal at 7:17, tying the game at two.
The Vipers may have entered the final frame tied, but it didn’t take long to pull ahead. Michael Cunha buried a power-play goal at 2:14 to give LaSalle its first lead of the night. Josh Lepain extended the advantage at 11:29, recording his 10th goal of the season. LaSalle capped off the comeback as Shawn Costello scored a shorthanded goal at 15:06 while Nic Rosati served time in the box.
LaSalle returns home on Wednesday night as they host the St. Thomas Stars.
