Veterans Shine in Vipers Win Over Kings

The Lasalle Vipers secured a much-needed win last night, defeating the Komoka Kings 5-2 in their final matchup of the season. A 54-shot game and stellar performances from veteran players Alec Stewart and Nick Graniero, who each contributed two goals, resulted in this Wednesday night win for Lasalle.

The Vipers wasted no time getting this game started. Nick Graniero opened the scoring at 5:53 into the first period. Moments later, Jak Thiessen capitalized on a breakaway opportunity that led to his 18th of the season. Jaksen Ward received a 10-minute misconduct at the end of the period that held the Vipers at a temporary disadvantage.

The Kings scored the only goal for either team at 8:04 into the second period. Three penalties were called throughout these 20 minutes but despite Komoka’s efforts, the Vipers held onto their lead heading into the final frame.

The Vipers came alive in the third period. Alec Stewart scored back-to-back goals at 4:23 and 5:37, the first one coming on a powerplay after a Komoka hooking penalty. Graniero added his second goal of the night at 10:25, also on the powerplay. Although Komoka managed a late goal, the Vipers came out with the win.

Next game is Saturday, January 25th, 2025, at 7:30 in Strathroy and our next home game is Wednesday January 29th, 2025, vs the St. Mary’s Lincolns.
