Tonin Hits 100-Point Milestone as Vipers Defeat Sailors 3-1

The LaSalle Vipers picked up another win on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Port Colborne Sailors 3-1 in their first home afternoon game of the season. Goalie Jake Windbiel got the start in net, helping the Vipers secure their sixth straight win.

The opening period saw just one goal when Seth Coomber found the back of the net at 13:47, assisted by Andon Harwood. LaSalle went into the first intermission with the lead.

Midway through the second period, Brody Jones was sent to the box for high sticking, but the Vipers turned the penalty into an opportunity. Joe Gingras picked up a loose puck and broke free on a shorthanded breakaway, burying what would become the game-winning goal. The Sailors responded later, scoring at 15:17 to cut the lead in half.

With just under a minute remaining, Port Colborne pulled their goaltender in a final push to tie the game, but Adriano Tonin sealed the win with an empty net goal. This goal was a milestone marker, marking his 100thcareer point in the GOHL. The 19-year-old veteran who is now in his fourth season with LaSalle has tallied 100 points through 146 career games.

The Vipers will return to action on Wednesday night at home against the St. Marys Lincolns before hitting the road for back-to-back games this weekend
