The LaSalle Vipers saw a three-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the St. Marys Lincolns on Wednesday night in LaSalle.
In what was a very hard fought and closely contested 60 minutes of hockey, the Lincolns scored the lone goal of the game midway through the second period on a shot by Joe Mazur that squeezed through Vipers netminder Kyle Downey. Downey was stellar for the home side, stopping 35 of the 36 shots he faced, but was ultimately outdueled by Lincolns goalie Bryce Walcarius who shut down all 27 of LaSalle’s shots.
The Vipers will now take to the road for their two remaining games this week, starting with the return match in St. Marys on Friday night, followed by a quick turnaround when the team travels to Strathroy to take on the Rockets on Saturday night.
