Six Unanswered Goals Lift Vipers to Comeback Win

On Wednesday night, the LaSalle Vipers came roaring back from a 4-0 deficit in one of the most electric comebacks of the season, defeating the Ayr Centennials 6-4 at home.

Fresh off the win in Elmira on Sunday night, the Vipers didn’t get the start they hoped for. Ayr opened the scoring just 51 seconds into the game and despite 19 shots on net, LaSalle headed into the first intermission down 1-0.

The second began with more challenges for the Vipers when Ayr added three more goals at 5:24, 9:16 and a powerplay marker at 13:20 while Michael Cunha was in the box for hooking. Just 90 seconds after Ayr’s fourth goal, Cunha sparked the comeback with a powerplay goal at 14:56 to get the Vipers on the board and only 30 seconds later, rookie forward Kale Pucovsky buried his first career GOHL goal.

The third period was all Vipers. At 3:23, Connor Chartrand pulled LaSalle within one. Moments later at 6:26, Kade McGeen tied the game at 4-4. The comeback was shortly completed when Nic Rosati scored the game winner at 8:19. To put the finishing touch on the night, Chartrand added his second of the game with an empty netter to seal the 6-4 win.

LaSalle looks forward to Friday night as they make the long trip to Caledon.
