The Sarnia Legionnaires came down to the Vollmer Recreation Centre for another Wednesday night game. The Lasalle Vipers are off to a hot start this season in only playing three games and winning all three. Two more first GOJHL goals were scored in this 5-4 win.
The Vipers opened the scoring at 4:12 when Adriano Tonin scored his first of the season. Soon after the Legionnaires came back at 9:51 evening the score. Ending the first 1-1. One penalty was given out to the Legionnaires, but the penalty was successfully killed off. Shots on goal were 14-11 in favour of Lasalle
The Vipers carried the second period, scoring three goals. Brendan Gouin’s second of the season came at 4:30, this goal was awarded as a powerplay goal. Brody Jones scored his first GOJHL goal on the powerplay as well, bringing the score up to 3-1. Joe Gingras finished the second period scoring with his first GOJHL goal. Shots on net this period were 15-14 in favour of Lasalle.
Heading into the third period with the score of 4-1. Julian Gignac ripped one past the Sarnia goaltender and brought the score up to 5 for the Vipers. Lots of penalties were handed out after a scrum in the corner, both teams successfully killed their respected penalties. Within the last 10 minutes of the contest the Legionnaires scored three goals, but the Vipers held on to the lead and won 5-4.
